Curly ponytail/bun

Curly Ponytail/ Bun

Today I will show you how to do a curly ponytail. I think that it looks really good as a casual hairstyle. It might even look good with fancy braids or regular braids. A good accessory with it is a headband. As you all know the holidays are coming up and a good way to spread the holiday cheer is to wear holiday accessories. Good luck finding a Hanukah hair pin. I like it all dressed up with accessories, but if the ponytail isn’t tight, it won’t look right. Make sure your hair is straight. It can even be a little wavy, it just can’t be curly. Brush your hair thoroughly. Make sure there aren’t any tangles in it. A good way to keep your hair from damaging is to use heat protecting spray. It keeps your hair healthy and nice looking and protects it from further damage. One your hair is back and tight, you want to brush out the actual ponytail so it is smooth. The curling iron you want to use for this is a wrap around one without the clip. It will take a while depending on how big you want the curls. This hairstyle makes your hair look thicker and fuller. Take a small to medium piece of hair and wrap it around the curling iron. Hold it for a long time or until curled to perfection. Repeat throughout the whole ponytail. Make sure that there are no stray pieces or else it looks really weird. AHA I thought of another good way to do your hair from this. Once you are done with the ponytail, twist it loosely and wrap it into a bun. It is kind of a formal look. I like the curly bun, it is kind of an updo. It will look good for dances and formal parties.

katniss

    Katniss braid
I've been seeing a lot of people wearing a new hairstyle a lot lately. If you have seen the Hunger Games movie then you will understand. Katniss is the main character and she was put in the hunger games. Her signature hairstyle of the movie is the Katniss braid. It is an inverted side braid. It looks great as a casual style. For this hairstyle you need a hair tie and maybe a few bobby pins to hold the flyaways.

To start, choose one side of your head and take a smallish section of your hair. Start French braiding it, but instead of bringing each third in front of the others braid the opposite way, under the others. Do that until no hair is left and you are on the other side. Finish it with a normal side braid. It can be accessorized with a flower or a bow. It makes more sense when you see it!

Wavy curly hair

Easy ways to make your hair look good in the morning

I really like to do different hairstyles each day for a while. I almost always wear my hair down  I noticed that there isn't always a lot you can do with your hair down. I like braids, but they get old. So I decided I really like wavy hair. Wavy meaning curly but not. Not the kind of wavy when you braid it. You want to start by making sure your hair is slightly damp. If you have just showered then let it dry for a while. If your hair is dry then you want to spray it with some water. Next thing to do is find a clip like one with teeth. Start taking small pieces of hair and twisting them. Hold it or put it in the clip. You don't have to do it in layers. One thing to remember is that your hair should be brushed and not tangly. Twist small pieces all the way around your head. Put them in the clip on the top of your head. I like to do it at night so I can sleep on it. Take them out and run your hand through them in the morning and your hair will look great! Don't forget to use hairspray!!!

Bun style

This week, I want to tell you about this cool bun style I found when I was in Hawaii. I don't know what it is called, but it looks like well, it's hard to explain. So I tried it out, and it works great. First, put your hair in a ponytail on the middle of your head. Make sure it is tight. Take one fourth of the ponytail and roll it like it's a loop that could stay up on your head. Do that with each fourth, and put it like a plus sign. Use a lot of bobby pins for this. It works better for medium- short hair. I cant find a great picture. I don't know what to search. Hmmm... :(

Curling irons

Curling Irons
There are many types of curling irons. Each one has a different style. There are wands (my personal favorites). They make perfect ringlets. They can be big or small it depends on how big the piece of hair you use is. Wands don't have clips, so it is a really big danger of burning your hand. I hurt my hand about 3 weeks ago, and it is still there. What  you do is you take a piece of hair and hold the curling iron upside down. Wrap the piece of hair around it. If you want it tighter, then you should  hold it longer. Smaller pieces of hair will make tighter curls.Another one is the regular one, with the clip. This is good for more formal occasions. You should use a medium size piece of hair. Put it in the clip and wrap it around. I would hold it longer for tighter curls. It looks really good with waterfall braids. Don't forget to finish with hairspray!

Wavy hair

Wavy hair

Lately, I noticed wavy hair has become popular. I may be wrong, but lots of people are wearing it these days. There's a secret to doing it. The secret doesn't involve heat. you can use a waving iron, but this way looks much more natural. This hairstyle requires two hairties and wet hair or a spaybottle. To do this you need to know how to french braid. This looks nice when you take it out of the braids. You do not have to be a master at french braids, but if you don't know how, then I reccomend a waving iron.

The first thing you want to do is make sure your hair is damp. If you have just taken a shower, then you want to let you hair dry a little bit. If it is soaking wet it will still be wet when you take it out. If your hair is dry, then spray it thoroughly. Start by sectioning your hair into two. French braid pigtails into your hair. I like to do it at night and sleep on it. When I take it out it looks great. The braids don't have to look good at all. When you take them out you will have a cute hairstyle. Check out my ustream video, it will be up tomorrow! I'll put a link on here next week.

Halloween Hairstyles

So, Halloween is coming up and you may have some costumes you want to do a hairstyle for. There are so many choices of what you can be, and what you can do with your hair. One good one is a fairy. What you would do for a hairstyle for a fairy is start by curling it. Then, put it in a ponytail in the middle of your head. Bobby pin the hair from the ponytail all around your head. To add extra pizazz, spray sparkles in it, and it will look great

I noticed that a lot of people tend to be zombies every year. Well, a good hairstyle for zombies is the messy look. Basically what you do is you can leave it down or put it in a messy ponytail in a weird spot on your head. You might want it to look gray, because you have been dead and in the ground for a while, so you can get some gray hairspray. After its ready, make it as messy as possible and a good way to do that is to tease it. it makes it look frizzy and messy! Its a great way to male your costume look real.

Easy hairstyles

Some days, You just need an easy hairstyle to do in less than five minutes. There are a bunch! One is the ponytail. To make it look good you should brush it a lot and make sure there are no bumps. You could also do a braid on the side or the back. You could do an easy bun by twisting the hair and wrapping it up. Just about everything will look good if your hair is neat and clean! Remember to wash and condition your hair almost every day! Ponytails always look good!

Braided Headband

This week I am going to talk about making a cute braid headband. It isn't a French braid, but it still holds the hair back. It is good if you have crazy bangs and want to keep them back. This hairstyle can be for working out and even for an everyday, casual look. It can work with your hair down or in a ponytail or bun or just about anything that won't interfere with the braid.

You will want to start off by taking a small section of the hair by the ear and hold it upwards. Split the section of hair into three smaller, equal sections. Keep braiding up.  Once you get to the end, put a small rubber band around the end. It might look weird and stick out but once you pin it to the other side it will work. Now, you want to push your bangs back and other hair. Pin it to the other side under other hair. Finish it off by doing whatever you want with it, like putting it in a bun. Voila! You are done.

Donut bun

Donut bun

To do a donut bun, you will need a brush, hair ties, and a donut bun maker. First, you will need to brush your hair thoroughly. Make sure there aren't any tangles. Put it up into a ponytail wherever you want your bun. It will eventually look like a donut. This style is great for a formal event or any regular day. Once you put it up, put your bun maker over the ponytail. Slide it to the top. Start rolling it. It will look messy at first, but keep going. If it doesn't work at first try again. Once you are done, put a hair tie around it. If there are any stray hairs, bobby pin them up. You can accessorize it with a bow or flower. This is a donut bun maker.

Fishtail braid

Fishtail braid

A fishtail braid is just a really cool way of doing a braid. It looks like a fishtail (get it?). One way to explain is to say it is transferring small pieces of hair from one side to another. It may sound complicated, but it isn't. What you need for this is a hair tie and a brush. Before you start you should brush your hair thoroughly. There shouldn't be any tangles at all, or else it will take longer and not look as good. This hairstyle is for past shoulder length hair. You can wear it like a normal braid, in the back, on the side, or even pigtails. Divide your hair into two even sections. Take one small piece of hair from one side and bring it to the other. Take a piece of hair from the other side and bring it to the opposite side. Repeat until you get where you want it to be. Here is an awesome video explaining how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkV4ptjPf3M

This hairstyle is wonderful for most occasions. It can be very casual. It also can look very nice if its an updo. A hard trick for this is a french fishtail braid. It is like a french braid, but in fishtail. It looks really good messy. It is a twist on the classic braid. This can be used as a work hairstyle or a working out hairstyle. for small girls, it looks really good as pigtails. I usually do it to the side. To dress it up you can add a flower or bow.

Tips for curling and straightening

Taylor Swift.jpg     So, I am going to start posting new blog posts every week on different tips or tricks or hairstyles. They should be up every week before Tuesday. This week I am going to give you some tips on how to curl or straighten your hair to perfection! One way to keep your hair looking good and to prevent it from heat damage and split ends is to use heat protecting spray. It keeps your hair looking healthy and shiny. There are many ways to curl your hair and many curling irons to choose from. Some of my personal favorite ways to curl your hair are tight curls for special occasions or loose curls for a nice everyday look.

To do tight curls you should have a no clip curling iron. I have one from Conair, and it works perfectly. Before you do your hair, you should spray heat protector evenly over your hair. If you spray it too close to your hair it will become crunchy and gross. Divide your hair  into a top half  and a bottom half. Put the top half in a bun or clip. Take small sections of your hair and wrap it around the curling iron and hold it for ten seconds. It should look like a tight ringlet. Repeat that throughout the whole bottom half. Take down the top half and take smaller sections than the bottom half and curl. Hold on the curling iron for ten seconds. This will give it nice layers. Spray with hairspray. It looks amazing for a formal event.

lauren_conrads_long_lush_curls_hairstyle118.jpg     For loose curls, repeat the heat protector step. Take the same curling iron and grab large pieces of hair and wrap them. Hold for eight seconds. They should end up looking like beachy curls. Spray with hairspray. For this, you do not want to split it up into sections, or else it doesn't look as nice and informal. For straightening, you will want to spray it with heat protector again. Go slow and take your time. It helps it to look better. if your hair is extra curly, then you may want to split it up into sections. This will take longer, but look better.

Waterfall Braid

Today, I am going to show you how to do one of my personal favorite hairstyles, the waterfall braid. This hairstyle is fun and easy and looks great. To do this hairstyle (like many others) you will need to know how to french braid. It looks like a french braid with pieces of hair coming down (hence the waterfall braid). It is made for hair that is down. It looks good straight, but to make it fancier you can do big, loose curls. This hairstyle is cute for medium to long hair. It does work on short hair, but it might not  look as good.

To do this hairstyle, you will need bobby pins or small plastic rubber bands, a comb, and a curling iron (optional). To start off, you will need to start by doing a french braid, but when you grab the bottom piece of hair you let go of the current piece of hair that you were adding on to. Repeat until satisfied. There are also lots of good videos on this on YouTube. So, once you are finished with that, if you want to you can curl it. It looks more formal with loose curls at the bottom of your hair. This is a good go-to casual hairstyle if it is straight.

 Hair Crazy (Basics)

Hi, My name is Lilly Avery, and ever since I was little I loved to do my hair. I would always braid my sisters hair or mess with my dolls hair. Here are some awesome tips and tricks to do your hair.To do your hair for most occasions, you will need a few things to get started. Some supplies you will need are hair ties, clips, bobby pins (lots!), a donut bun maker (or a rolled up sock), small plastic hair bands, a flat iron, a curling iron, a brush, and a comb. To do most of these styles you will need to know how to braid, french braid, and every once in a while, an inverted braid. If you do not know how to french braid, you basically braid your hair but each time from different sides you grab a piece of hair. There are many YouTube videos on how to french braid, search how to french braid and many will come up.

An inverted braid is basically a backwards french braid. Search how to do an inverted braid on YouTube.

These hairstyles are for medium to long hair, so they will work better if your hair is past shoulder length. If you can put your hair up in a bun, then these will work for you. I have straight hair, so if you have curly hair you might want to straighten it first.
